Explanation of what good design means to you.
“Thus the fundamental principle of architecture is territorial. The architect assembles physical materials from which the observer creates not just an image of a building but of 'place'.”
Charles Moore - The Place of Houses
Design is more than the process of organising the appearance and function of objects around us. Design is more than problem solving. To suggest otherwise would be to propose that the designer's responsibilty ends when the originally perceived problem is deemed to be solved. Design is the study of culture.
Good design recognises that it must serve the culture of the people it touches. Good design takes responsibility for its service to culture and knows it is a moral act. Good design enriches the places that culture creates.
