…a play on the title of my other writing online and the act of self-building a home - is where I live and practice. The design history was summarised in a previous blog entry and the build process was captured at https://home4self.tumblr.com.
An experiment in a number of different construction techniques and materials, it has also won construction excellence awards.
The project also provided an opportunity for research into the use of digital tools and their impact on a home user guide. The outcomes were summarised as part of the Digitising Custom Build (DCB) project funded by the Technology Strategy Board. Home grown wikis on Raspberry Pi computers were also tested.
