pigs in space

"The historic legacy of Birmingham is considered to be of prime importance, especially as so much was demolished during the redevelopment of the 50s and 60s."
- Birmingham Unitary Development Plan 2000

This web site charts the design process of my final thesis project. The menu and diary on the left will grow as the weeks progress and allow access to each of the stages in the project as they are completed. The pigcam is updated regularly and shows what I am working on today.

This project is a continuation of the work commenced last year which questions the destruction of the city's iconic Bull Ring Centre (see links). The history of Birmingham and its urban fabric is being erased. How can we make progress without destroying the memory of the city?

Rob Annable - November 2000

'Pigs in Space' proposes re-introducing pig farming into the city as the catalyst for regeneration. Click here to read the program and click here to read the proposed brief.
